Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New Jersey
I attended a nj high public high school basketball game to watch my daughter play. I was told the school had a "no hat" policy and that I had to remove my hat. I am an adult in a high school gymnasium watching my daughter play at 8pm at night. Were my rights violated?

No, unless your head was covered for religious reasons The school may have legitimate public safety reasons for banning head coverings. It is up to you to request an accomodation for your religious beliefs, if such requires you to have your head covered at all times.
