I work at a southern new jersey hospital who is trying to make their employee's park at another facility off site from the hospital.They will provide transportation (a high van which is in accessable to me).Since I work in the H R Dept the VP of HR is demanding that I park offsite.He is fully informed for over four years that I have handicap plates issued by thes state DMV. Previously I was told I couldn't use the handicapped spot right outside of my office and had to use the employee parking which is extremely far from the hosipital. They then told me to use the handicapped parking at the back of the hospital (also further away than the parking spots I use now)
I was told today that the handicapped spots were needed for the patient's families these spots are on the hospital's private property and I cannot park there any longer.
Is the hospital violating my rights of handicapped parking? I checked with the local DMV and Police Dept. and was told to the best of their availability the spots are state issued and I have a state issued parking permit and do not have to comply.
Can my hospital legally force me to give up my disability parking and my rights? This has been a long ongoing issue with my employer for the last 2 years

It appears that you may have a case for violation of the ADA for lack of a reasonable accommodation by your employer. Perhaps you may want to consider making a formal complaint (in writing) to your employer. If that fails, then you should file with the Div. of Civil Rights, Office of the Attorney General. If that fails, then sue!
