Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New Jersey
civil rights violation
I was arrested (with excesive force) I was never told what I was being arrested for and never read my rights.I have never been arrested before nor do I have even so much as a speeding ticket I am a 40 year old female. I was injured by the police officers who handcuffed me I had back surgery a few years ago and pleaded with the officers not to put my hands behind my back because they would hurt me but, of course they did so anyway and with so much force I had bruises and needed to go to the emergency room. I was held at the local ps for 5 hours then transfered to county jail. I asked to make phone calls and I was denied at both places. I also asked to use the bathroom at the first ps and was laughed at and told that I was to use the toilet in the cell. Heres my problem with that there are cameras in the cell there were 3 policemen (never a female officer) at the ps who could obviously see me. I could go on and on with everything else that they did but could you tell me if the above are violations of my civil rights and what can I do about it. I am facing several false charges made by the officers and its been over 2 weeks and I still cant get the police reports.

Re: civil rights violation
It's uncertain if you have a civil rights action just based upon your facts as you described them. You should retain counsel for the criminal charges if there is not a civil rights action. Feel free to call our offices, or e-mail me directly.
