Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New Jersey
demeaning terms of endearment in workplace
My co- worker yelled at me using the terms ''dear'' and ''sweetheart'' as demeaning terms to me. He is male, I am female...He also told me that everyone in the building views me as a ''problem''.
Obviously he is spreading false rumors or gossip. Do I have legal recourse?

Re: demeaning terms of endearment in workplace
First: Check your employee handbook and see what it says about harassment. Follow any directions it gives you.
Second: Complain in writing to your supervisor, whomever that is. Keep a copy of the writing.
If they do not take effective action, call our offices.
