Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New Jersey

Landlord/Tenant - Landlord asking 6 months rent for breaking the lease. Is it Va

I have signed for one year lease. I happen to move out after 6 months due to job transfer. The lease says until the next tenant moves in or until the lease expires, I have to pay the rent.

Now the lease expired and landlord had sent a huge bill for 6 months stating apartment was vacant.

Security Deposit was withheld for 6 months and showing as adjusted against 6 months rent.

Is it Valid? What are the possible solutions for this issue?

You would have to sue and prove the landlord did not take reasonable steps to rent the apartment for 6 months. A tough case.

Leases are required for exactly your circumstance. When you leave early a penalty applies.

Consider going to small claims court with your case.
