Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New Jersey
I am a single, middle-aged African-American male professional. For the past year and and half, I have been the victim of a harassment campaign by managers in two nearby NYC bars based on a rumor that I contracted a skin infection from a homeless client a few years ago. The rumor was spread by a jealous husband-bartender who was angered by his bartender wife's friendship with me. We were all friends. I would pick up and date in his bar. The bar managers stall or refuse service to me, make faces when I arrive and tell co-workers and female patrons to avoid talking to or touching me. I have written complaint letters but the managers have ignored them. I have advised them that I am healthy. They refuse to talk to me about the issue. Recently, I noticed two suspicious vehicles following me in my town. One driver actually snapped photos of me from long distance. I have filed a police report.
