Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New Jersey

This is one of many things going on with these people...I've been working with the post office for 14 years. I helped my ex-boyfriend who broke up with his girlfriend fill out a hold card and change of address card. I filled out the cards because he couldn't write because he had a reaction from his back surgery but I MADE HIM SIGN BOTH CARDS. Believe me I wouldn't jeopardize my job over a signature. Well he went back to the girlfriend and now they are trying to get me fired by saying I signed the forms....not worried about that because I didn't. And I can prove it because I have cards from him with his signatures on them. They have already contacted my boss and have went in to the post office ranting about this. I am bipolar and this has put me thru a lot of mental anguish...my question to you is if they continue to pursue the issue can I sue them for defamation of character and mental anguish etc? Thank you

Stop worrying and please see a therapist and your union rep. All you did was assist a patron with an address change and you did not know nor are you required to know that he is a nut.
