Legal Question in Technology Law in New Jersey

Computers and the workplace.

I work at a school and all of the computers are owned by the school. I know that the head of the computers has a program where he can look at our computers screens without us knowing. Also he holds a universal password to everyones email account where he does look at that without us knowing either. Is it legal, being that we do not own these computers, that he can simply spy on us without giving us notice?

Re: Computers and the workplace.

Your employer has broad authority to control the use of the tools that he provides for work. Absent a contract to the contrary, that includes the right to monitor your email.
