Legal Question in Construction Law in New Jersey
Research Project
I'm conducting a research project for a Construction Law class that I'm taking this semester. I'm having a tough time finding law cases that deal with construction and contract disputes/breaches. I'm currently looking through Lexis Nexis, is there an other area that I should be researching in to find this subject matter. I am an engineering student and not a law student. Thanks in advance.

Re: Research Project
It would be helpful to know if your class is part of an engineering curriculum or a law curriculum.
Lexis will not be the best primary source of law to use if you are looking for the unique aspects of construction contracts or construction-related torts. That is because you have to know the vocabulary before Lexis becomes really useful. Look first to a treatise on the subject to get educated on what is different about construction cases. You will them be able to easily find cases by searching for such topics as "substantial performance" and "bid protests".
You should be able to find construction law treatises at any good law library. All the NJ law schools have one and, because of the rule related to accepting the deposit of federal public records, the libraries are available to the public with permission. Rutgers has a good online library catalog. (See my web site for a link).
For a good place to start, try Robert F. Cushman et al. "Construction Disputes: Representing the Contractor." New York, Aspen Publishers, 3rd ed 2001.
