Legal Question in Construction Law in New Jersey
Window of opportunity to sue
Regarding a default of payment for construction services. Company has been trying to collect for two years from date of service. They would like to bring the matter to court. Are there restrictions to how long after date of service company is able to sue?

Re: Window of opportunity to sue
It depends on where the suit is brought and what for. In NJ, the general rule would be six years from the time the cause of action arises. However, the time might be shorter. Check with a lawyer who can advise you on the whole transaction.

Re: Window of opportunity to sue
In New Jersey, there is a 6 year Statute of Limitations on contract actions. Since it has only been 2 years, a lawsuit could be started.
I hope this helps!
