Legal Question in Consumer Law in New Jersey

Change in price for vehicle purchase

I recently purchased a car from dealer, signed the papers, and drove off the lot. The original price was $12,900. Dealer and I agreed on $10,000. I gave $500 down payment. This would mean that $9,500 needed to be financed. The loan contract from the bank states that I have financed $12,900 NOT $9,500. I believe the agreed upon price was put on my application when the dealer was locating a financer, but I don't have a copy of that. What can I do?

The contract to buy the car and the financing arrangement are separate. You should have a contract of sale that states exactly how much you were to pay for the car. Don't sign any financing documents until you have a copy of that contract and know what the car costs.
