Legal Question in Consumer Law in New Jersey

My son leased a car for his brother and his wife because they were having money problems. My son signed the lease and his brother's wife signed, as the secondary person. Supposedly she has been making a few payments on this lease and owes many months back payments. Now, the lease is up, and the car must be returned. My son and wife are now ending their marriage and she refuses to give up this car. My son, the one that signed the lease, called the Leasing Co. and wanted them to go get the car but they told him no. What are his options, if any, to protect himself and his family. I am so afraid he will have to pay the delinquent payments because he was good enough to sign this lease. His brother on the other than, now wants to stay out of it because he is fighting a nasty battle to end this marriage. I am really angry with him for taking advantage of his brothers good nature.

Worried Mom.

Robert Davies The Davies Law Firm, P.A.

Sorry, but you should be worried. If your son who signed the lease wants a lawyer to help him (and I think he needs help) then have him call me. Could be thousands of dollars and damage to his credit rating.

Give me a call, make an appointment to come see me, and let's get moving on this for you.

Please keep in mind that my response is just a general comment on your question, and not legal advice. Your question and any response does NOT create an attorney-client relationship between you and this law firm. The exact details of your situation and things that you have not mentioned in your question can completely change the answer to your question. You can not rely upon what I have written, because I do not have all of the formation that I need to advise you, I only have the very small amount of information that you put into your question. For me to give you any legal advice, I would need for you to hire me to be your lawyer, and then we would need to discuss this in detail and go over the documents.

To get legal advice that you can rely on and use, please contact me directly. I would be happy to assist you.
