Legal Question in Consumer Law in New Jersey
Timeshare maintenance fees
My dad resently transferred ownership of his timeshare to me. I doing this I had to pay maintenance fees of $309.00 for 2001, in order to keep the week that he did not use. In receiving all the final paperwork, it said that current membership dues are paid for 2002 and membership is paid in full. Now all of a sudden they say this is a typing mistake and I owe 2002 dues. Do that have to stand by the letter or due I have to pay for 2002 dues? I believed that having a record in writing from someone saying It was paid in full was legal. Thanks Donna

Re: Timeshare maintenance fees
Do you have proof of payment? If so, I would send it to them. If not, I would write them back, sending a copy of the letter and asking them to live by their mistake. You relied on their reprentation at the time of making the purchase.
