Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

Bank Charging uneccessary

Hi,

I had a zero balance account with a bank. Now suddenly from somewhere they are charging me for something ,their collection agency does not know what is all about they are just asking me to pay it or go to a bank branch which is again no possible because it 1700 miles from my place. This bank do not have my SSN registered with them.

Can they take any legal action against me of can they ruin my credit history.

If you dispute the debt, the collection agency is required by law to get verification from the creditor.
