Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

i believed a co-workers tearful story

my teacher's aid came to me with a very believable story of harrassment by her landlord. after considering her very convincing story i foolishly loaned her the$1,000 she asked for. 1 year later, i'm still awaiting re-payment. the excuses could fill a small book! i need to know what my options are before i obtain a lawyer and incur additional expense.i have since found that she borrowed additional monies from another staff member using the same story, with some additional embellishments. the other teacher and i are both recently widowed.

Re: i believed a co-workers tearful story

Your only practical course is to file a Small Claims action against the aid in the county where she lives. Once you get a judgement, you can obtain a wage execution against her. If you have any doubts about your course of action, contact an attorney. If you want me to assist you, call me at 856-546-8010; mention LawGuru and your phone conference will be free. Good luck!
