ANSWER: This is more of a criminal question. You may want to call your local police department and the police department in the place where the person who gave you the check is located. Both police can take reports. The local police can forward it to the Florida police. If they say it is a civil matter and they won't get involved, you may want to provide more information in your question about the transaction to determine what steps you may take to get your money back.
