Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey
Don't call me, write me!
Can a collection agency/law firm continue to call me, after I told them not to in writing? I'm not refusing to work with them, I just want everything in writing to prevent misunderstandings. Yes, I have an outstanding debt on a credit card, that my sister charged on my account. I knew about and approved $500 of the $5000 she charged. I'm now being sued and have to respond to the summons by october 10th .

No they can not. Document all violations, as you may be able to use it to negotiate a better deal later. You may also consider suing your sister and bringing her into the law suit. It may teach her a lesson, and help prove that you are not the bum, but a victim, and help to settle the matter. People LIE about debts ALL the time, so to get cooperation, you need to show you are telling the truth. Look at the big picture. I do not like MANY of the credit card company tactics, but if you buy, you have to pay, if you were screwed, the collector will NOT believe you, so show them you are the victim. - That's just my suggestion.

You have more important things to worry about then can they call you or not (answer is no by the way, except to tell you that they will sue you). You need to worry about this law suit. If you are not careful, you can wind up paying the $5000, plus interest plus attorney's fees.
