Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey
I have a collection agency who claimed they purchased an account from a creditor I had in the past. I ask for proof and all they provided me was a copy of a receipt of the amount of payments and the alleged debt that I still owe. However my credit report clearly reads that by my debt was paid on time in in full. What are my rights to stop this false judgement?

If you have the proof that the debt is paid in full, you should send a copy to the collection agency and demand that they close their file. If they do not do so, a claim can be filed against them. Depending on how large the debt is, the claim will fall either in small claims, special civil part or the law divison of the superior court. Thank you.
Depending on how much the debt is, I'd be happy to help you out.
