Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

to whom it may concern:

I am writing on my mothers behalf, she is 89 years of age and on social seciurity, she has a house with a mortgage, I credit card is suing for payment, can they garnish her social security or take her house, and are her children liable for this debt. please advise if there is any action I can take.
