credit card debt

My husband recently passed away. Am I responsible for the credit card debt that was issued in his name alone?

Re: credit card debt

You are not personally responsible for the credit card debt. However, the debt must be paid from the assets of your husband's estate in the order prescribed by law so long as the estate has assets. So, the debt must be paid before you can inherit anything from the estate because, as a residuary beneficiary, you come after the creditors.
