credit cards collection

what action can happen to me on unsecured credit cards? I am self employed and just had surgery. bought the ins. that would cover pmt. but was refused because of self employment. they still charged me for the ins. but I could not use it.I have not returned to work yet but soon will. they call everyday they are very rude to me and my family and ask very personal questions.they say they will do a asset search?all credit cards are unsecured. what can they do? I live in nj.

they could file a law suit against you. If they win, they can then take your wages, house, car, items in your house, etc. Getting an attorney largely depends on how much you owe. Hiring an attorney should not really be that expensive. However, if it does not make sense to get one, you should do some research on the 'net about how to deal with these people.
