Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey
Debt Collection Law Firms
I defaulted on a Capital One Bank credit card and have paid all amounts to a Northern New Jersey Law Firm. Now my bank account is being levied because they haven't yet paid Capital One. I never received a paid in full letter in which I completed a formal prepayment plan agreement to include fees and interest. Now my bank account is being levied and I still have an open judgement on my credit report. The debt was paid 2 times the amount owed. Do I now have to begin all over and pay the courts, which I was never given a court date and also how much will be levied. I have $1 in my bank today. Will this ever end. Should I have only paid the courts. Not sure if Capital One was ever paid by that law firm??

Re: Debt Collection Law Firms
If you paid the law firm in full, they are required to give you a warrant of satisfaction.
You have to oppose the levy by motion. If you don't, the money will be turned over. Eventually, you will get it back (by a motion), but it will be much more complicated.
