Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

Debt collection , levy

how long after obtaining a judgment against someone who has failed to pay thier credit card bill does a law firm order a credit report to determine whether they have any bank accounts? Is this the only way they track bank accounts? Do they keep ordering credit reports periodically to see if the person has subsequently obtained money ? Will the law firm persue the credit report and check for accounts even if the person didnt have any assets or bank accounts at the time of judgment? Thanks tony

Re: Debt collection , levy

There are no rules. The law firm is permitted to legally pursue any collection actions that its client authorizes. The law firm will be as aggressive as its client wants it to be. Keep in mind that this advice is based purely on the little bit of information that you have given to me. There may be other factors that would change my opinion. Further, no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. Since it appears that you have not retained an attorney, before you take any further action, you should contact an attorney (either me or someone else) to discuss your matter in more detail. Only then will you be able to rely on the advice. I will be happy to assist you. However, you need to call me at 856-546-8010. If you mention LawGuru, there will be no charge for your first consultation. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
