Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

debt collection

Yesterday, my bank account was levied for $2,000.00. The bank gave me the attorney's phone number. It was a large firm and it was impossible to get through to someone. Finally, I spoke with a girl who informed me that it was an old credit card I had approximately 10 years ago and they have a judgement for $6,000.00. In 2004, I made a settlment with another firm and paid the settlement in full on this old credit card. After hours of searching, I was fortunate enough to find the cancelled check and a letter advising that the account was paid in full. I faxed these to the firm and have been unable to reach anyone again. How do I handle this unscrupulous law firm and regain my money they levied? Also what does a person do if they didn't hold onto records that were five or more years old???

Re: debt collection

You need a copy of the judgment and you need to file a motion to vacate it. I would hire an attorney as it can be very touch to deal with these firms as you already know. Call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss.
