debt after marriage

Am I responsible for my soon to be wife's debt? None of it was obtained while we been together

You are not responsible for her separate debt, but the distinction may be only academic unless you take precautions not to comingle her money and other assets with yours. If a judgment is obtained against her, a levy may be made on a bank account on which she is named even if it is a joint account. Unless you can show a judge that all the money is yours, the money will go to pay the debt. You should also consult a lawyer before you buy any real property together.
