Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

My estranged wife recently died after a long chronic illness requiring many hospital and nursing home stays. Her health insurance was a single (non group) policy in her name only. I never signed anything upon entrance to her many hospital stays. Am I responsible for her medical bills that remain after the insurance payments ?

Your are responsible for your spouse's health care. If you were still married during her illness, her creditors can collect from you if her insurer and her estate does not pay. /p/ See also: http://info.corbettlaw.net/lawguru.htm
