Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey
My father in law came to visit us from South Korea last year. He had appendicitis about a month into his stay and had to get emergency appendectomy as a result. He has medical insurance back in Korea, but no insurance here in the US. Now my wife and I are getting all kinds of bills (under his name and not ours) from doctors, hospital, and others. I was told that I can just ignore it, since he has no social security number in the US and none of our names are tied to the medical service that was performed. But we're getting mails from attorneys and collection agencies (again to my father in law's name and not ours) that to pay the bill. What should I do here? Just sit on it hoping to disappear? Or reach out to the collectors and let them know he no longer lives here?

First thing, you may want to make sure and certain that you are not exposed to his medical bills. I can explain.
