Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey
I have a hosptial bill of $2500. Since I can't come up with the funds I approached the billing deptment and asked if they would accept $50. a month. They stated that they would need the bill paid in 12 months and that it would require $200. and some odd dollars a month. If I send them the $50. a month aren't they required to accept it and keep the account out of collections

If you mail payments they must credit your account, but they are not under any obligation to refrain from any lawful collection efforts.
