Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey
Interrogatory sent by plaintiff
I have asked the law firm that is representing their client who has purchased a credit card debt they are attempting to collect to validate the debt, provide proof their client owns the debt, and so on. I received from the law firm a letter with principal balance, interest and attorney fees. The dunning letter stated no attorney has reviewed the account and they include attorney fees. I just received interrogatory pretty much asking me to validate the debt. How do I respond to this.

Re: Interrogatory sent by plaintiff
I strongly suggest you get an attorney if you think that you are not responsible for the debt. These firms are in the business to make money and as an identity theft assistance attorney, I can tell you that they don't always cooperate in these situations.
Otherwise, I suggest you looking into the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
