Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey
A Judgement Is Filed Against Me
A law firm has a judgement against me from a credit card debt. They have sent me a letter stating that thet are in the process of identifying assets & will will send the matter to a sheriff for execution unless I settle. What is the best course of action? What percentage of the judgement amount can I reasonably expect to settle for?

You need to contact a local attorney who can advise you. If the debt is more than 12K, the best course of action would be to open the judgment and start fresh, but if it is old that may not be possible.

Do you actually owe it? It might sound like a dumb question, but many people pay judgments that they don't really owe. I see this a lot with ID theft.
