Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

I live in NJ and had surgery in 2008.There was a bill that I couldnt afford to pay and asked the doctor'd office if they could accept what insurance paid as payment in full.I was told to write a letter explaining the financial hardship and it would be put before their board.I never heard back and 2 days ago I got another letter from an attorneys office demanding payment. Is there a statute of limitations regarding the amount of time the doctor has to bill me.

The statute of limitations is six years based on contract principles. I have a friend facing the same situation. he had surgry in 2008 and the Ins. only paid less than a 1/3rd of the bill. he kept submitting to the carrier, now he is facing being sued by a collection lawyer. You are unfortunately responsible for what the Ins did not cover and the Doctor has another 4 years to collect. feel free to call with any other questions if that did not fully answer your query. Good luck (201)-8894-9498
