Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

I went to Las Vegas, NV on vacation on July 28th of 2006 and a friend put the airline ticket on her credit card. I paid her the $580.00 on July 28th, the day we arrived in Las Vegas. Now she is suing me stating that I never paid her the money, which I did on the 28th of July in Cash. She sued me and I have to go to court on 01/08/2007. How do I go about defending my case and proving that I gave her the $580.00 in cash when I dont have a receipt? Also, she is doing this out of revenge because I did not move in with her on September 1st of this year, causing her to have to move out by herself away from her mother and into a smaller apartment. this is a revenge case and she is suing me for money that I already paid her. Please help!

First, you answered your own question. You have nothing to prove your story. However, the good news for you is that she cannot prove that you owe her this money and it is her burden of proof. This looks like a gift and she will be unable to prove that the two of you had some type of contract. Thus, I don't see where she is going with this.
