Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

Medical Billing Issue

I was billed $40.80 in 2004, paid it in 02/05. In June 2006 received a bill for the $40.80 and an additional $101.00 for other services. Am I legally obligated to pay a bill that was generated more than a year after services were rendered? They have placed both of these amounts on my credit report, I think this is unfair and I have a copy of the $40.80 payment made by personal check.

Re: Medical Billing Issue

I suggest you send both the collection agency and the original creditor a copy of your check that you used to pay for it. Tell them tat you dispute it, ask for proof of debt if they dispute your claim or to otherwise remove it from your credit report. I would also dispute the entries on your credit reports.

Good luck!
