Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

Mother

My mother has just informed me she has 78,500 in credit card debt. She is 76 years old and in poor health and my fathers retirement has ended leaving her to live on SS. Can she be held liable if she cannot pay them? Why do credit card companies allow this?? Do they really think they will be paid??

Re: Mother

You should really sit down with an estate planning attorney about this issue. I would handle the credit card issue, but I don't do estate planning. I would try to find one attorney to do both. I could refer you to one. Call me at 732/247/3340.
