Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

paying a debt

Hi there!

My question is how do I go about getting a legal documentation regarding a large amount of money that is owed to my stepfather? The person who owes this money is in debt to my father at about $30,000..so far he has only paid about $2,000 in the past 4 years. He has paid back $10,000 to both his sister-in-laws and avoids my dad. This person is my brother's brother-in-law!!!! The reason for the documentation is that my stepdad suffered a stroke last August and since then they don't feel that they have to pay the money that's owed. Please help me!!!

Re: paying a debt

Your stepfather needs to hire an attorney, sue and force payment. If your stepfather had a stroke, then someone acting in his place with legal authority under a power of attorney could do it.

Your stepfather should go see a lawyer.

I agree with Mr. Davies, I don't think you are going to get far on your own with this one. Go see a lawyer asap.
