Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

who is responsible for deceased bills

My wife recently died in the hospital. I am now receiving all of the hospital/doctor bills (they are all in her name). Our only medical insurance was medicare which paid 80% of everything, but she's getting the bills for what medicare did not cover. Am I responsible for these bills? I am 85 yr. old, living on social security. We did not own any property (I live in a senior citizen rental assistance apartment) nor was there any will or estate. Please help.
