Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

Responsible parties to a lawsuit

A lodge sold tickets for a motorcycle raffle. The raffle never went off because permits needed. That is still being worked on, but the people who have bought tickets are threatening to sue for their money back. Officers of the lodge are concened they will be part of the suit. Will they, or will the suit just be against the lodge as an institution?

I agree with Mr. Corbett, I suggest that you just give the money back. You may want to get an attorney to handle it for you so the proper releases can be brought up. You also don't want to run into criminal charges. I'd be happy to discuss all of this with you.

Re: Responsible parties to a lawsuit

It is frequently good practice for a plaintiff's attorney to name everyone in a suit against whom a legitimate cause of action can be made out. It seems to me that if the lodge acts properly, there need not be any cause of action for anyone. If the lodge gets a permit and replaces all of the invalid tickets with valid ones with the same chance of winning, it would seem that no one would have anything to complain about.
