Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey
Subpoena Duces Tecum ?
I'm currently being sued for payment of a bond that I did not close out. The estate was settled more than 5 years ago, but I failed to close out the bond. I only owe payments for taking out the bond. Why would the lawyer be requesting a subpoena ?. I have received a letter from one of my creditors, American /Express and a copy of a subpoena to supply the lawyer with a photocopy of the the last check issued by defendant as well as any credit appl. completed. How can I prevent my records to be released? I dont understand any connection!

I do not fully understand your situation. I think you mean that you owe money to a bond company, because you did not close out the bond. I do not understand what American Express has to do with it, nor why a subpoena is involved.
If you want to stop your records from being released when requested by a subpoena, then you will need a lawyer to assist you.
