Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

Summons to court.

I recieved a summons to court for an account that I have disputed on several occassions with the original creditor and previous collections agencies that were collecting for the original creditor. Now the account has been sold to a 3rd party collections agency.

Unfortunately I was not aware that i received the letter from the Attorney's office until I was going through my mails last weekend.

I lost everything in a fire last year and have no more documents to show my disputes. What can i do in this case?

Re: Summons to court.

Settle the case with them, go by yourself and fight it or hire an attorney. Those are your only options as I see them.

Depending on the amount of money, I suggest getting an attorney. If it is a low amount of money, there may be no point.
