Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

2c:3a 1

I was a passenger in a car. My friend and I was pulled over. My friend had a small amount of marajuana in the car. The took us in and I have to appear in court. Never appeared in court for anything. What are the possiblities for me getting hit with a fine only?

Depends on how your lawyer handles this. Personally, I think you shouldn't have to do anything here as far as fines go since you are not guilty but there reaches a point where it is better to pay a small amount of money to avoid a criminal record and everything else. You should discuss that with an attorney.

This is a serious crime and if you are convicted you will have a criminal record that will follow you. You should think about hiring an attorney. If you wish to discuss this further you can contact me at 732/286/2170.

Re: 2c:3a 1

Did you know the drugs were in the car? If you didn't know, is your friend willing to admit that the drugs were all his and that you did not know they were there? A drug charge may result in just a fine, but can also lead to you having a criminal record, can lead to you losing your driver's license for up to two years, and could result in your going to jail as well. I would never recommend that someone in your situation go to court without a lawyer. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
