You may want to hire an attorney because even if you do get probation you will have a criminal record. There my be other options or defenses to help you out.

If this is your first involvement with the law, you can hire an attorney and try to get a conditional discharge or pti. Which means if you are successful on probation the case would be dismissed.

In all probability, you are facing probation, at the worst.

I need to know more information before I can give you a definite answer. Was this a marijuana charge? Do you have a prior criminal record? Have you ever been entered into a diversionary program for any drug offense in the past? I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
