Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

In 2001 I was convicted of 1 count/merged count of : 2C:12-1E*4 Assault-Simple/Discriminatory /4 and 1 count/merged count of : 2C:5-2 Conspiracy, Uncoded Chapter No. My SBI # is 106327c. I was released in Dec. 2005 and finished my parole in April 2006. I owe no more fines and have not been in any trouble since then.

I would like help to get my record sealed so I can get a decent job to support my family. I was wondering if I can get a hardship expungement or clemency because with the economy the way it is, I am finding it very difficult to obtain employment with my criminal background.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

For a crime one must wait ten years from the end of probation/parole and the payment of fines to file for an expungement and must wait five years for a disorderly persons offense conviciton.
