Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
When I was 17 or so I got a parking ticket at my high school. Scared to tell my parents I never paid the fine. Years later I found the ticket in a box in a closet and contacted the municipality that wrote thee ticket to find out what I should do to take care of the ticket. I spoke to a very rude woman that would only say " you've been served ". I swear. So the ticket went back in the box and I forgot about it. At that time I had already moved out of state a few years before I found that ticket. Well it's been approximately 15 years and I would like to apply for a Concealed Carry Permit where I currently live but am concerned about a possible warrant. I have never received any written communication from the municipality that wrote the ticket in the last 15 years and have never had any issue with my drivers license or had the issue brought up in the two states I've lived in since my teenage years.
I would like to hire an attorney to handle the issue since I live more than a thousand miles away but would like to know what the process would be and potential cost. I've included the zip code where the ticket was written.
