Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

16 year old case
I got pulled over driving through New Jersey in 1993. My girlfriend at the time had marajuna in her purse and I said it was mine so she wouldn't get aressted. Well I got arested and released and had a court date that I never showed up to. Well all these years I have had a DL (Live in FL) Now I can't get one. I called and have a court date for april. But I have no idea what I need to do I live out of state and want to knoe will I go to jail for a faliure to appear.

Probably not, but nothing is absolutely certain when one goes to court.

If you are a first offender you can apply for first offender treatment. It would be a good idea to take an attorney to court with you.
