Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
My 16 year old son was arrested and charged with aggravated assult. He broke another kids jaw. We are going back to court next week. I am willing to pay the hospital bills, co-pays, deductibles, etc for the other families medical expenses. Can the other family sue me for more than just medical expenses? Can they sue my son even though he is a minor?

For you to be liable it has to be the case that you had prior knowledge of dangerous misconduct on the part of your child and you failed to take reasonable steps his behavior.

I think the bigger issue right now is the criminal case. Call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss.
I think the best way to think about this is in terms of "winning" the assault case...if he is not guilty of aggravated assault, many positives will flow from that. Who is representing him now? Why is this an aggravated assault (was there a weapon, was this a mutual fight, how many people were fighting , where did the fight happen, are they alleging permanent damage)
Please write back or call my office direct to discuss.
