Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

My 17yrs old son

my son exgirlfriend went to the police station after finding out he had a new girlfriend and made a statement that my son threaten her with a gun. my house was searched and nothing was found now he is locked up and because she filed a police report and they said they had to act on it. she said once before if she can't have him no one will. can you give me any legal advice?
