Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Access to Public Information in the State of New Jersey

I'm am trying to get a copy of a criminal record in the state of New Jersey. The person has been dead for 18 years. NJ state police won't give criminal records unless its your own record, you want to employ that person or you are a private investagator. I thought this was public information open to all citizens. What is considered public information in the State of New Jersey? How can I optain that information?

The release of criminal case history on an individual is usally only accessable to the prosecutors office, the police department and to the individuals attorney.

You may want to hire an attorney on this persons behalf to obtain his criminal case history.

If you have any questions you can always reach me @ 201-646-9600. (Savy Grant)
