Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

accused of burglary

i get a call from emergency from my good friend ''John'' saying he got jumped by his old house...the three people who were breaking into the house to find him saw him walking by (they assumed he still lived there)..jumped and beat up, one had a knife and it cut his tendon in his right finger (surgery necessary), moderately filleted another. cops came cuz the burglary was called in and they found him bloodied on the ground and put a gun to his chest, then take him to emergency. i get to him and there's a cop with him to sign out his medical records for the investigation. more come to take pictures but they leave. the officer tells me we have nothing to worry about, based on the description they know who it is. he also tells me that witnesses check John out from being a suspect. this happened Tuesday.

Wednesday on a job hunt a cop who knows him tells him he sure knows how to make up a good story..odd.

yesterday as we're walking from the park two undercovers grab him up saying that a warrant was issued pertaining to the burglary, the only evidence they have of his is his blood at the scene, no prints or anything else on him. he's currently in intake and his bail set at $10k :(

low-mid criminal record, all drug offenses..help!

Re: accused of burglary

What I got from your e-mail was that your friend was assaulted, but then got charged with burglary. It sounds also like the police told him that they didn't believe he was a burglar at first, but then later decided to charge him. He needs a lawyer since burglary is a serious charge and he has a prior record.I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
