Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

i need advise on dropping charges.

hello this is a bit complicated my boyfriend at the time and i had a domestic dispute and my mom called the cops and when they came they saw me really upset and at he moment i was madd and told them he had hit me with a plastic bolw in the head. what really happend was that we argued and i got in his face and the only thing he did was just push me out of his way and leave. based on my statement he got arrested and his family posted bail and now his waiting for trial. then six months went by and we got married and im pregnant and i want to drop charges but im scared of getting in trouble what can i do ???? I don't want him to go to jail for a really big misunderstanding.

You could get an attorney. That is sometimes the best way to handle this.

You shouold have no problem dismissing the charges, You will be asked to speak to a domestic violence counselor, and you can tell them that the charges got exaggerated, that you wish to drop them, that you are now married to the defendant.
