Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

i was arrested the other day for armed robbery with a bb gun, i want to know being 2 min after it happened i went back to the place to turn my self into the cops because i knew what i did was wrong so i wanted to turn in. when the cops came i told them the bb gun and money was home and i signed a search and gave them everything, i didnt mean to to it at all my itentions were never to hurt anyone by this or even do it at all, im 19 years old, didnt finish highschool trying to find a job, i have a 8 month old son im trying to support and not finding a job hurts me knowing i cant support him the way i want, so know im out on bail looking for job and trying to get back in school to show im really not a bad person. i never had a record before or even juvenile record, nothing, at the time i did it i wasnt thinking about what i was doing i thought it would help me give my son what he needs until i get on my feet but after i did it i realized it was wrong thats why i turned my self in, i signed the statement saying i did it. but i want to know do i still try pleading not guilty because im aware of everything i did and what i caused. would the judge let me explain if i plead either guilty or not guilty? and is there any chance of me asking for a second chance since i never had a record and the situation that caused it was what triggered me for one second by mistake, can i try getting long years of probation, slap program and any other program, house arrest anything to help me not serve time to be there to support my son the right way since i knew everything was wrong and gave my self in? help me please

You should get an attorney, if you cannot afford to hire a private attorney you should apply for a public defender. Armed Robbery is an extremely serious charge and could have serious consequnces including mandatory Jail time. I would be interested in knowing what were the circumstances that caused you to sign a confession, you may have issues and your constitutional rights may have been violated. Before you do anything else you should get a lawyer, please feel free to call with any questions (201)-894-9498 I never charge a fee to merely speak to someone about their case.

You and your parents need to confer with an attorney. All things are possible in your case because you are a first offender and you tried to be cooperative, indicating that you are aware that you did wrong. Keep your mouth shut ande talk about your case with your attorney.

Call me if you like.

You are facing the potential for many years in State Prison for your act, despite everything else you wrote. This is because if you are found guiltyu of armed robbery with a gun, even a BB gun, you are facing madatory prison time. You should apply for the public defender if you do not have an income and do not have anyone else supporting you. Plead Not Guilty when you go to court for the first time, despite having already made a full confession to the police. Please contact me if you would like to discuss your situation in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about thier case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
